Campus Room 1.31

Interested in visual arts, fine arts, and the humanities? You are invited to a special event with guest lectures and artists, Susana Camanho and José Cardoso from the Polytechnic University of Viana do Castelo.

Join this unique opportunity to explore your unexpected creative potential. In a collective activity involving the manual printing of letters, we will be recognizing the potential of the poster-poem.

No special knowledge or experience is required. Come to learn, test out your skills, and take away a unique poster from this interactive workshop.

There will be two workshops, 2:00-3:00 and 3:00-5:45, held each day. By combining writing and drawing, this workshop proposes the creation of different poem-posters, using single words in a literary and visual game.

Susana Camanho is an invited adjunct professor at the Polytechnic University of Viana do Castelo, where she is part of the course committee for the bachelor’s degree in Arts and Digital Cinema. She is a member of the APK (Aesthetics, Politics and Knowledge) Research Group, and in recent years, she curated the conference cycle “Thought-Images” and edited and translated the collection “Thought-Images Booklets.” Interested in the connection between words and images, she has developed an artistic project based on the potential of wooden stamps from the 1970s, mainly reflected in her artist’s books. She holds a degree in Fine Arts (Painting) from the University of Porto and a PhD in Philosophy (Aesthetics) from the University of Barcelona.

José Cardoso is a visual artist and teacher based in Porto, working in the graduation program in Visual Arts and Artistic Technologies at IPVC. He teaches Drawing, Composition Studies, Art and Digital Media, Curatorial Practices, and Screen Printing. He develops artistic work and communication design projects, specializing in drawing landscapes, territories, and places, often appearing in maps and museography projects. His observational drawings portray places and everyday moments, executed with a Bic ballpoint pen. He completed a degree in Design at the University of Aveiro (2005), a Master’s in Design at the University of Barcelona (2008), a Master’s in Drawing and Printmaking Techniques at the University of Porto (2013), and a PhD at the University of Aveiro & the University of Porto (2020) with distinction and honors.
